Particular Instance

This picture is one of my favorites, taken a day or so after I bought my new camera. Occasionally, I get so wrapped up in getting where I need to go that I forget to take a look around me. And when that happens, I always end up randomly noticing how beautiful my surroundings are. This was one of those particular instances, and I was actually driving down the highway when I noticed how blue the sky was. I picked my camera up and took this picture, which very quickly became my favorite after working on it.

Cross at the Lake

I took this picture at the lake where I spend a lot of my time. It is of a cross necklace I was given at Camp Sumatanga, where I worked over the summer and it reminds me of everything I learned there. It always hangs from my rear view mirror in my car. The only editing I did to this picture was boost the color and blur the edges a little bit.

Target Sunglasses

I took this picture on Sunday, August 22nd. This was taken before I went to church with my family. I love these sunglasses, I got them from target and i wear them everyday. To take this picture i got down on the ground so I would be on the same level as the glasses. I also used the close-up option on my camera to put all the focus on the glasses. I love this picture because of the blur in the background, and the fact that you can see me taking the picture in the reflection of the glasses.

This is my favorite sport. I changed the temp to give it the blue background color. Also, I raised the sharpness, highlights and definition to make the neon green paint gleam.

Leyton

This is a picture of my little brother, Leyton. I took this with my stepmother's camera, also the one that I will be using for this class. We were at the zoo, and I saw an opportunity to take a picture, so I got Leyton to stand behind the Zoo poster and smilie. I edited this picture by enhancing it and cropping it to show more of Leyton and less of the poster. I then retouched his face, because he scratched his nose earlier in the day.

More then Meets the Eye

I took this picture in my kitchen. I like this picture because you can see the reflection of the objects around the glasses. I boosted the color just a little to make the glasses lens look a little darker.

The Lonesome Road

I was driving down the road on the way to the Hoover Jamboree and i decided to take out my camera and see what it looked like if i looked through the viewfinder while driving. It wasn't safe, i know, but the shot looked cool. I shot it in P mode and set the color to a faded sepia, and then i edited it on iPhoto.

The Cross

The reason I took this picture is because it represents my faith.
It is my favorite because of that reason and i think it looks really cool and i like the way it focuses on the smallest of things on the cross itself.

Rain on the Window

I took this picture on August 14th of the stairs in my back yard. I saw the ran on my window and I thought it would make a good picture. My shutter speed was 1/160 and my aperture was f/9.0 My focal length was 25 mm and I did not use the flash. The camera I used was a Canon EOS Digital Rebel XT. In iPhoto, I used the Antique and Fade Color effect.

This picture means a lot to me. I have been doing pageants since I was in Middle School and they have taught many life lessons like poise and confidence. This crown in one of my more prestigious titles as Miss Birmingham's Outstanding Teen. I took this picture at my house with no flash. All my editing was done under iPhoto to adjust the lighting and shadows.

This is a photo of the pincushion I use for sewing. None of the pins or thread were strategically placed, it was taken as is with yellow construction paper as a backdrop. I increased the highlights a little, but it is otherwise unedited. Taken August 22, 2010.

A Sunny Day

There is nothing very significant about the picture, i just put my hat and a magazine on the ottoman, or whatever it's called, and took a picture. I didn't edit it much, I just sharpened it and changed the temperature and made it contrast a little more.

Wonderland Lake

I took this picture at Aldridge Gardens. Its of the huge lake in the middle of the garden. Theres a trail around it and me and my friend were walking around taking pictures and found this awesome bench. We sat on the bench and i randomly took this picture. I thought it was the most awesome picture ever. I edited it by turning down the temperature and tint and thats how its all purpley, turned up the definition and highlights and got this amazing picture. Now this is by far the best picture i've taken so far.

Disney World-Blue

I took this last summer.I took this picture at Disney World while I was on a boat. I also started having a flu while I was there, but still wanted to take a lot pictures because it was my first time there and didn't want to miss out on anything. I edited and made it blue

Rain before the Concert

I took this picture on the way to Nashville to see Paramore in concert. It represents me because Paramore is my all time favorite band and I love the sound of rain on the window. I like the way the raindrops are clear while the background is blurred.

Back Porch Candle

I took this photograph on my back porch. The subject is the candle. I especially love the background. I took this with natural lighting which means no flash. I really like how the green background makes the picture come more alive, and also i feel like it has great detail.
